What is Creative Block and How to Overcome It

  Have you ever wanted to draw something or write something or create something but when you sat down you just couldn’t get anything down. Some call this little setback, a creative block. You just can’t think of anything else to create and sometimes this is where people give up on their projects. 

Understanding Creative Block

  Being a technical creative block is defined as a period of time that creators experience reduced creativity thinking and productivity. For writers this could be halfway in a story and then you lose where you want it to go. The story goes unfinished. An artist ‘s creative block could be seen as what more to add to a painting because it just seems unfinished. Many people experience creative blocks, You’re Not alone.

Signs and Symptoms of Creative Block

  How do you know that you are experiencing a creative block? Well a good sign is that you feel like the path you choose isn’t for you. You feel like you are a fraud and you don’t think you are good enough to make it big. During these times you can’t be creative without making it seem like you are just pretending you are good enough.Though creative blocks differ from each individual person this is the main idea of how some would feel experiencing this block of creativity.

Strategies to Overcome Creative Block

By now you are probably asking how you can overcome the creative block. Well it will not be easy but here are some ways i can help you out. This part is about your mindset. You’re Not alone when facing this obtuse. Take this time to join many groups about your field you are working in. You’ll see that everyone else is kinda just winging it just like you. These groups are also where other people post tips, questions and their own work. This could help you be helpful to someone else, find inspiration and find connections. Trying to overcome creative blogging will take time and it’s okay to take a break from your work and come back when you are ready. Sometimes you need a change such as a change in routine or environment. Take a walk and breathe, you got this. Not everyone is perfect. Everyone doesn’t keep going, don’t be the one to give up now!

Reflecting and Learning from Creative Block

  After many obstacles on your journey it’s healthy to reflect on this. What causes this creative block? Did i find ways to bring my creativity back or did i just waited until it passed? Asking yourself questions like this will help you prepare for another creative block. You can always write these down and reflect on them in the future.
